教養としての【English proverbs&ことわざ】(一覧表)
こんにちは。
今日は【ことわざ(proverbs)】について英語と日本語でまとめました。
ことわざとは、古くから言い伝えられた、教訓、格言や風刺などを含んだ短い言葉であります。英語と日本語で学ぶことによって文化の違いや共通する大切な教訓を学ぶことができ、大変有用です。以下に一覧表にしてあります。

ちなみに、皆さんはことわざって漢字で書けますか?
読めるとは思いますが、いきなり書くと『諺』と書けない人もいると思います。
覚えるための参考ですが、
彦はもともと「彥」と書かれていたので、「文」「厂」「彡」の3つに分解できます。
「文」は入れ墨を書く様子、
「彡」は美しい様子、
「厂」はおでこを横から見た形
を表しています。
この3つを組み合わせて「彦」には「整った形の顔」の意味があるそうです。
『諺』は「言」+「彦」で『整った形の良い言葉』の意味があります。
ところで、私の大好きな漫画『るろうに剣心』では、重要な登場人物2名に
明神弥彦、比古清十郎と名付けられています。作者は『彦』と『比古』に強い思い入れがあるのでしょうか?また読みたくなってきました(笑)
